Letter from a puppy mom…..

by Kate on July 11, 2016

THIS is why I do what I do.    I don’t do things the easy way.  My babies are truly pre spoiled and well loved – and they easily transfer that to their new families……

Hi Kate! Since Clover will be 6 months this Saturday, I thought I’d send a few pics and an update.

EVERYBODY LOVES HER! But no one more than me :)
There is a list of at least a dozen people who have offered to take her when I go out of town. My waxing lady insists I bring her to my appointments, my acupuncturist is the same, and she gets to come to the yoga studio once a month (it would be more but we don’t want everyone thinking they can bring their dog all the time). My parents now buy steak with bones in it and freeze them if I’m not around. Mom insists it’s because it’s on sale, but we all know. ;)
She has all her shots and boosters for the first year and will likely be spayed in early August. She’s about six pounds and may stay there, we’ll see. She does great in the car, is probably 99% housebroken, and is a really funny but good watch dog. She was standing right next to the sprinkler head the first time it was turned on for the season and it scared the bejesus out of her so now she growls at them when they go on at night, all without lifting her head from her bone.
The boy next door is a yorkie who is ten days older so it’s so very nice to have a playmate so close. They cry for each other and go to each other’s doors quite a bit. Serious puppy love, and making me rethink that whole spay thing.
I’ve had her groomed once, mainly because of the heat. She’s doing really well when I brush her and I only do that about twice a week. She is adorable shaggy but it’s really nice to see her eyes again. Her fur is so soft! She’s great on her leash and doesn’t stray far when I let her run around a little. She’s really good at coming when I call her. And she’s kind of a circus animal – she can balance on her hind legs for at least half a minute when there is food involved. So crazy! She also taught herself how to fetch at like 3 months and loves it.
Kate, I am so blessed to have her in my life. You did such a great job with her parents or whatever it is that you do. I am so gaga over her, there is nothing about her that I just don’t love to pieces. So thank you again!
Hope all is going well with you and your family! IMG_0326

There are two sets of pups ready to go home!  I KNOW – I’m excited too!!!

There are three little black poodle girls, adorable, sweet and one is going to be very tiny, there other two probably more like their ten pound dad.  Cinder, Stormy and Pepper.

There are three new poodles in the world!   Watch out world – nothing is smarter or more fun – or more loving  – than a poodle.

Their mom is a toy, their dad is a miniature, so they will be right between those sizes.  I’ll have more information as they get older.

Born Tuesday the 26th, introducing Delilah, Dundee and Dakota!

This is Dundee – mostly white with some pretty black splotches.

This is Dakota.   He’s mostly black with some white.

And the gorgeous Delilah.   Sable and white!   DSCF1387

The siblings….DSCF1391Ready to go home early June.   Let me know of your interest in being a forever home to one of these sweet things!

Waiting time…..

by Kate on March 19, 2016

The last puppies of the last litters are going home in the next week.   I am always so lucky with my puppy families – they all seem so great.

There won’t be a new litter till late spring now.    Will keep you updated!

Weekend things!

by Kate on March 12, 2016

Happy weekend to you all!    Spring is on its way and I can’t wait.   Muddy floors for everyone!   Raising my coffee mug in a cheer!   I have some new grass planted so maybe soon my floors won’t be as muddy.   But oh well, the dogs love running in the safely fenced back yard and playing, then coming back in and darn, I just can’t get them to wipe their feet.

Right now I’m sending this litter off to their forever homes.   Two more have people anxiously waiting for their very own muddy pawed baby to arrive.   Then I have one little pup waiting for someone to say he’s theirs.   He had two homes,  that I thought might be good for him, but both rethought the responsibility and 20 year commitment a puppy will be.

I applaud them for that.

Sure, life sometimes happens, but for the most part when you get a pup, he’s part of the family.   Your forever friend and you will find a place to move where he can go too.   You won’t turn your back on him when he’s a silly teenager.    You will make the time for someone who loves you unconditionally.    Dogs don’t like it when we consider them fungible.

Sure sometimes placements don’t work out.  All dogs are not fit for every family.   But if that’s the case, the first thing you do is call a trainer, and then if that doesn’t work, you call the breeder.    They will find a new home for your baby (or at least this breeder does.  I hope the rest do.)

There is your dogs-are-not-throw-aways lecture for today.

Now, here’s a puppy picture to make you smile – and more information on him over at the Available Page!

Thor is the last pup left in the last litters – he’s ready to go home next week – cute little black puff boy!   He thought he had a home but it fell through.  I always say, better before than after!   So he’s a little sad, but knowing someone out there wants him will make him So pleased.  (Actually he, like the rest of them, think they live here in spoiled paradise and it never crosses their minds they will leave… but it sounded pathetic, didn’t it?

He’s had a vet check – weighs 2.4 pounds, been de wormed and is has had first shots.  He’s funny and playful and so stinking cute!

by Kate on January 13, 2016

Happy middle of the first month of the new year!   Hope 2016 is just great for you all – can’t wait to hear about all my babies, and help some other lucky people find their new best friend.   Best job in the world!

Well, oh – and my other one.  I know you came here looking for puppy information and I’ll get back to that, I promise – got a few new litters coming soon!!  You know how I like to share that!

But in other working news – I got my cover art for my first book today.  Will be out on Amazon at the end of the month and I’ll have my writer website details and more book information in the next few days.  But for now – since I obviously can’t write anymore today – I have cover art to stare at!! – here it is.  Doubt you will love it as much as I do  – but why not?!   Might as well!!!
